Day 4 at CSD-18

Thursday was very busy indeed. After the NGO and women briefings, I spent time tidying up our statement for the afternoon, was then asked to sit in the Women’s seat during the Waste management session, attended a side event on asbestos, then sat in our seat in the afternoon session on sustainable consumption & production, and finished with our BIC briefing. I sure hope today is slightly less busy because I was completely brain-tired when I got to our own briefing.

The side event on asbestos was organised by Alexandra from Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF), our fellow Organising Party. It was very good, loads of shocking data about the impact and expected future impact of asbestos-related diseases. We heard about the situation in Russia and Indonesia, the position of trade unions, and the costs related to pensions paid out in Germany to asbestos workers and their families.

I’ll post photos of our delegation when I get access to them.
